Thai AirAsia Wins Climate Action Leader Award from FTI for "Green Operating Procedures" Project

On September 15, Thai AirAsia was honored with the Climate Action Leader award, presented by the Climate Change Institute of the Federation of Thai Industries, for its "Green Operating Procedures" project. This award reflects the company's commitment to sustainable social and environmental responsibility.

Thai AirAsia was the only airline to win an award for its "Green Operating Procedures" project, which focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting efficient energy use. This is achieved through more than 12 environmentally friendly aviation measures, such as single-engine taxiing, switching to digital flight documentation to reduce aircraft weight, onboard water management, and using fuel-saving climb and landing techniques. This project successfully reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 41,294 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂) and saved over 13,068 tonnes of fuel, resulting in cost savings of over 11.9 million USD.

The Climate Change Forum 2025, organised by the Climate Change Institute (CCI) under the FTI, served as the first major platform to bring together representatives from the public sector, private sector, academia, and environmental partners to exchange knowledge and innovation, aiming to drive Thailand towards its Net Zero goal in line with the LT-LEDS strategy and its Paris Agreement commitments.

Thai AirAsia’s achievement in receiving the Climate Action Leader award not only confirms the organization’s success in implementing environmentally friendly aviation practices but also signifies the Thai aviation industry’s tangible and significant contribution towards achieving the national Net Zero target by 2050.
