AirAsia Launches 2 New Routes: Suvarnabhumi–Chiang Rai & Suvarnabhumi–Nakhon Si Thammarat, Offering Dual Bangkok Hubs (BKK & DMK) for Year-End Travel

Bangkok, 1 October 2025 — AirAsia is taking off with two brand-new domestic routes from its Suvarnabhumi base: Bangkok → Chiang Rai (2 flights daily) and Bangkok → Nakhon Si Thammarat (1 flight daily). The move is designed to facilitate smoother connections to domestic destinations for international arrivals at Suvarnabhumi, energize year-end travel demand, and strengthen Thailand’s tourism economy. Services begin 1 October 2025.
With AirAsia serving both Bangkok airports—Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Don Mueang (DMK)—the airline offers travelers more options and flexibility. Backed by its consistent reputation for on-time performance and having earned the title of the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline 16 years in a row by Skytrax, AirAsia will launch a special inaugural fare starting from THB 950 per segment. Bookings can be made easily via airasia.com and the AirAsia MOVE app.
Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, said:“The final quarter of the year through early next year is a prime travel season, with both domestic and international travelers flocking to explore Thailand. Operating from two Bangkok hubs—Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang— allows us to attract new customer segments and enhance connectivity across our network, reinforcing AirAsia’s leadership in Thailand’s domestic market.”
“Thanks to strong demand at Suvarnabhumi, we are able to continue expanding new domestic routes. With the additions of Chiang Rai and Nakhon Si Thammarat, we now operate 11 direct routes from Suvarnabhumi alone. Combined with flights from Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Phuket and more, AirAsia now offers a record 41 domestic routes nationwide.” added Mr.Santisuk.
Currently, Thai AirAsia offers up to 8 direct flights daily between Bangkok and Chiang Rai, including 6 flights from Don Mueang and 2 from Suvarnabhumi, making it the airline with the most direct services to Chiang Rai. Meanwhile, Bangkok – Nakhon Si Thammarat is served with 4 flights daily (3 from Don Mueang, 1 from Suvarnabhumi).
To celebrate the launch on 1 October 2025, AirAsia, together with the airports of Suvarnabhumi, Chiang Rai, and Nakhon Si Thammarat, as well as local and government agencies, will host festive welcome events for arriving passengers—with warm hospitality and local flair. Each province is fully prepared to welcome travelers and amplify the festive spirit for end-of-year tourism.
