BANGKOK, 9 December 2020 - As the year-end travel season fast approaches, AirAsia wishes to assure all guests that it will continue to maintain stringent measures on all flights by performing temperature screenings, requiring face masks and sanitising all airplanes and cabins to ensure that everyone has a safe flying experience and a worry-free holiday.

AirAsia has recently been awarded the top seven stars for COVID-19 health ratings by the aviation safety experts at Airlineratings.com, following the implementation of numerous industry innovations over recent times to make flying more seamless, hygienic and contactless than ever before.

AirAsia Thailand Chief Executive Officer, Santisuk Klongchaiya said, "We have seen an overwhelming response from the public to the Government's initiatives in promoting domestic travel, which AirAsia has been strongly supporting. Our domestic operations in Thailand are already fast approaching pre-COVID-19 capacity levels and with the upcoming holiday season, we are confident of exceeding 85% load factors for December.

"AirAsia remains committed to maintaining the highest safety and health standards preventing the spread of COVID-19, and we are working closely with the Department of Disease Control of the Ministry of Public Health and airports across the country."

As December is a peak travel period and in line with increased demand, , AirAsia has added more flights from both Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports to popular destinations such as Chiang Mai, Nan, Phuket, Hat Yai and Nakhon Si Thammarat, among others.

"As the largest low cost airline in Thailand, AirAsia contributes significantly to tourism and the local economy, not to mention the spin off effects of air travel which disperse el revenue benefits nationwide. We have witnessed much pent up demand for domestic air travel over recent months and continue to increase frequency across our entire network, with 100% of capacity now on sale for December compared to the same time last year." Mr. Santisuk said.

AirAsia continues to observe strict ground and in-flight health measures as outlined below:

  • Sanitisation of the passenger cabin All Airasia airplanes undergo disinfection and sanitisation according to protocols set by the aircraft manufacturer. This is carried out by an expert team over a 2 hour period every evening, in compliance with public health agency regulations.
  • HEPA Filter air filtration All AirAsia aircraft are fitted with HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Arresters) filtration system which filters 99.999% of dust particles and airborne contaminants such as viruses and bacteria. This ensures the highest possible quality of cabin air which is hospital grade
  • Strict measures throughout every flight Temperature screenings are carried out throughout the passenger terminal leading to the gate. All AirAsia guests will be required to bring their own masks and to wear them properly before, during and after the flight, including during check-in and bag collection. Guests without a mask will be denied boarding.

Reduced contact measures AirAsia recommends its passengers to check-in online via its website, mobile app or kiosks and to use its QR Code system for contactless check-in and luggage loading.
